Review
ClickUp is a project management platform whose usability is generally strong, yet several significant frustrations are serious enough to justify choosing an alternative.
Pricing that is not what it seems
The plan comparison table presents storage as the key paid feature while leaving out that subscriptions are charged per Workspace. As a result, the Unlimited plan is not truly unlimited: running two Workspaces, each holding 10MB of data, means paying for the Unlimited subscription twice.
Lock-in
ClickUp provides no built-in way to export parts of a Workspace, such as Spaces, Lists or whole Workspaces, and import them elsewhere within ClickUp itself, so users are effectively locked in once they start.
Website redirects
While signed in, visiting the regular ClickUp website is impossible because every visit is forcibly redirected into the app. Reading ClickUp news or browsing product information and ideas requires another computer or browser, or signing out and clearing the browser cache.
Verdict
The redirect behavior is irritating, but the misleading pricing table and the lock-in are the real deal-breakers.
